We let you know about this before the big throw down on the parkway, so it’s only right we give you the full mix.

The folks at 10.Deep and Federation Sound collab to drop some tunes to get folks ready for the Bashment that is Labor Day Week in BKNYC. The full mix will drop this Saturday, but check out the preview featuring Kardi, Sean Paul and more below…
Labor Day Weekend is nearly upon us… And those that know Brooklyn know this weekend the streets of Flatbush and Crown Heights will explode for the Carribean Day parade. In the spirit of the many Caribbean nations pouring into our streets to tear it up, we decided to contribute to the mayhem by throwing a new mixtape project into the mix – one that would end the summer with a bang… or a murder.
We teamed up with the mighty Federation Sound to bring you SUMMER MURDA, a unique, 48-track soundclash mix full of exclusive dubplates from a wide range of dancehall’s greatest new and old artists – including the likes of Buju Banton, Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, Chino, Mr. Lexx, Kardinal Offishall and Flippa Mafia to true OGs Johnny Osbourne, Shinehead and Freddie McGregor. Our collective focus was not to bring you the latest, newest dancehall, but to create something timeless. Here’s a quick taste of what you can expect to hear…
Federation Sound was originally founded in 1999 by Max Glazer, Kenny Meez and Cipha Sounds and has since grown to become a worldwide force in reggae music (and include Alric & Bodyd from Fame FM, Jamaica) and the late Disco D (RIP). Representing Brooklyn, Jamaica and Philly, they have collaborated with Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel, Baby Cham and Aidonia, as well has have produced dancehall remixes for Rihanna, when not keeping up with a busy travel schedule. Federation also host weekly shows on eastvillageradio.com, iTunes Radio/ and Scion’s streaming mixshow, as well as their own Federation Invasion podcast.
We’ll be dropping SUMMER MURDA online
on Saturday, September 3rd at 5pm (Brooklyn time) and will be celebrating with catered food, drink and soundclash at an outdoor launch affair from 7-11pm (see details below) with Max Glazer and guests (Federation Sound), DJ Ayres (The Rub) and Nick Catchdubs (Fool’s Gold). We’ll see you there…
After the jump, check out the flier for the tape’s launch party on Saturday night…

The reality TV craze has officially hit Jamaica and Vybz Kartel looks to capitalize on it. The “Teacher’s Pet”
is Vybz’s upcoming dating show. Ladies casting is still open for this one….

Mr. Kartel has been making the rounds lately, in promotion of both his new album and upcoming book, among other things. The people over at The FADER & New York Times have seemed to take notice of his hustle.
He graces the cover of the latest FADER issue, their annual Summer Music Special, and is featured in a recent NYT article covering his various branding efforts. Both are good reads.
Check out The FADER‘s accompanying podcast below…
In Brooklyn, the West Indian Day Parade goes straight down Eastern Parkway. It’s as much a summertime celebration as it is a competition to see who has the biggest truck with the loudest speakers. Most of what gets played is, of course, West Indian music, but the city’s summer bombast shouldn’t be exclusive to soca, calypso and reggae. Sometimes you just want to hear an acoustic guitar played fulled blast out of an 18-wheeler. We’ve rounded up our favorite jams from our Summer Music Issue and prepared a proper soundtrack for your big truck or beachside iPod speakers. Six years into his career, Soulja Boy is still welcome at our barbecue, and so are FADER #74 stars Vybz Kartel, Woods, DJ Harvey, Jhene Aiko, Clams Casino, Pure X, Grimes, Little Dragon, Fat Trel and Shabazz Palaces. It’s hot out out there, and it should be.

“Go Go Wine” is the latest video release from Vybz Kartel and will also be on his upcoming album Kingston Story to be release June 21st. There is an obvious increase in the production value of this video which is a deserved treatment for someone who keeps making bangers other collaborators were Dre Skull who produced the track and Patrick Fraser who directed the video.

Given the tomfoolery put out there recently, it’s nice to have someone giving people the other side of the coin.
