Usain Bolt x Nissan – Limited Edition Gold GT-R for Charity Auction.

Monday, October 15th, 2012

In the market for a new car? Then let Usain Bolt help you help him. Check out the details below…

Usain Bolt is known for his lightening fast speed and his bold personality, but every now and then the Jamaican sprinter isn’t afraid to slow down and show his softer side, especially when it comes to the youth of his home country. As part of a long-term partnership with Nissan, Bolt is lending his name and golden image to develop a one-of-a-kind Nissan GT-R embossed with his signature and finished with real gold trim throughout the cabin. This Gold GT-R will be auctioned off via eBay at the end of October with the proceeds going to the Usain Bolt Foundation, but if your pockets are deep enough to snag this one, Bolt and Nissan’s designers are in the process of designing a limited-edition run of GT-R models to be offered world-wide. This is Bolt’s first job as Nissan’s recently named “Director of Excitement,” but there is obviously no one better qualified than Bolt to bring excitement to a brand.

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Puma continues to bless the world’s fastest man with apparell to stay fly in. Check out the pics and info below…

When you’re working with the fastest man alive, you’re not going to be shy about asking for his direct input in designing a range of running shoes and apparel. That was the thinking behind PUMA‘s Usain Bolt collection, a lineup featuring three different shoe models as well as lightweight jackets and tees. The footwear range consists of the Hawthorn Trinomic, Faas 400 and RS1, all three featuring lightweight materials and cushioned footbeds, and all appropriate for the street as well as the gym. The grey, black and neon yellow color palette of the shoes are mirrored in the apparel, which includes a hooded nylon windbreaker, track jacket and tee. Berlin’s Overkill has the collection now.

Cedella Marley to Design JA’s 2012 Olympic Uniforms.

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

The news may be about a week old, but it’s fresh nonetheless. Check out the details on Puma’s collaboration with the Marley family below…

The Fastest Man in the World and his teammates will be breaking PRs in true Jamaican fashion during the 2012 Olympics.

PUMA and Cedella Marley, Bob Marley’s eldest daughter, just announced she will be designing the Jamaican Track and Field Team’s Olympic uniform, podium and ceremony wear. Cedella describes the partnership as legendary. We describe it as fast fashion, literally.

Bolt likes the partnership as well. “I can’t think of a better person to design our Olympic outfits than Cedella. PUMA got that right…hooking up with a legendary Jamaican. She’s a great designer but also carries on the spirit of our nation through the legacy of the Marley family. It’s going to be inspirational to run in London with that energy surrounding me.”

You can catch the first peak of Cedella’s designs this August at the IAAF World Championships of Track and Field in Korea.

Usain Bolt Wants To Play Soccer

Monday, August 30th, 2010

via: The Guardian

This morning I was reading news from one of my favorite soccer blogs dirty tackle, that Usain Bolt wants to play soccer. There is no question dude has got athletic skills (mainly fast running skills) but I don’t know if he has football skills… Manchester United Football skills at that. Here is what Bolt says about it in his autobiography:

“Ideally, if I was to play football, I’d sign for my favorite team — Manchester United. People say it’s not realistic but nobody has seen me play so you never know. If Alex Ferguson saw me in one of those charity matches he might think I could replace Ryan Giggs.”

The Gaurdian explained the lifetime Man U supporter is serious about playing.

I ask about his ambitions. Ultimately, he says, he’d love to make a go of playing football professionally. He’s being deadly serious. One of the perks of being Usain Bolt is that sporting stars love to meet him, so whenever he’s travelling and there’s time, he tries to train with a top football team. Last year it was Manchester United, a few days ago it was Bayern Munich. He’s still carrying a copy of the French sporting newspaper L’Equipe, which features a spread on his football skills and praise from Bayern manager Louis van Gaal. He shows me a photo of himself with his arm wrapped round the dwarfed 6ft German forward Miroslav Klose. “If I keep myself in shape, I can definitely play football at a high level,” he says.

Here is some footage of a recent trip Bolt made to Bayern Munich FC and there’s a quick shot of his “football skills”.

Usain Bolt Adopts a Cheetah

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I caught this story over on The Fader about Usain Bolt adopting a baby cheetah while in Kenya. Then check Usain sorta racing a cheetah…

The Lightning has been taking a break from JA to hang out in Kenya for a few days, where he has “already impressed local children with his football skills, and become an honorary Maasai warrior,” according to the BBC, further proving he is our second most admired jedi knight/sensai/dream date slightly after Barack Obama. But Bolt’s moved up like 18 notches on our list after his recent adoption of A. Baby. Cheetah… as part of a conservation effort focusing on sustaining the environment in Africa via the Long Run, a new campaign he is launching. Appropriately, he christened the cheetah “Lightning Bolt,” and we immediately began singing the Vybz Kartel verse “BOLT / LIGHTNING BOLT,”
