I mentioned a while back that Wyclef and Mavado collaborated on the Hold On track back in the late fall of 2009. The track was already well suited for the disaster but its been altered again to speak to the quake victims in Haiti.

On Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, BBC 1Xtra headed down to St. Thomas, JA to docuemnt the event that was Sting 2009. The all-day affair included performances from Bounty, Vybz, Mavado, Kiprich and many more. For a taste of what went down, check out the gallery below….

Prime Minister Bruce Golding is to meet with dancehall artistes Vybz Kartel and Mavado today as part of ongoing efforts to put an end to the rift among supporters of the two performers.

The feud between Kartel’s Gaza and Mavado’s Gully alliances has spilled over into some schools with resulting violence among students.

Information Minister, Daryl Vaz said the meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m….

Spotted on The Heatwave

I caught this little mock of the Vybz/Mavado beef. They need to do a version for Vybz/Bounty beef. Check it out…

This is actually an old Mavado interview from ‘07 but its still pertinent for today about the violence in dancehall music and the artists’ take on it.

Sumfest 2009 took place last weekend in Jamaica. Its an annual concert series held in Montego Bay with a bunch of different acts from R&B to Reggae to Hip-Hop. Here are some of the performances and interviews from the event.
