F.O.K.U.S. presents The Stoop 2011.

It goes down once again tomorrow in Fort Greene park. Check out the info on this year’s festivities below…

The Stoop is our annual celebration of the arts. Stoops are known for being a place for people to meet, relax, share stories and have a good time. This event mimics that by bringing together a wide array of artists into one space for you to enjoy. This year we will have performances by a dope collection of artists: Mickey Factz, Sophia Urista and The Sauce, OMNI Blaize, DJ Grand Wizard Theodore, DJ Jazzy Jay and DJ Smoke L.E.S..

We will have live art being created in the park by: Epic Skiiwalker, Kathryn Klopp and others. Looking for even more fun for you and your family/friends? Then we invite you to take part in the various games and contest such as lawn darts from OgoSport to Spades, Uno, egg races to hula hoops. There will also be face painting and additional games and activities for the all. You can quench your thirst thanks to IZZE and their sparkling juice drinks. There will be a healthy cooking demonstration and tasting by Myrtle Eats Fresh Community chef and you can also snack on Pirate’s Brands healthy snack (ie Pirate’s Booty). You’ll also be able to experience a unique pop-up shop thanks to Convoluted Construct’s and their 83rd anomaly. F.O.K.U.S. designed The Stoop, its annual summer arts event, to serve as the artistic physical crossroads between individuals, communities and their respective artistic experiences. We invite you to come out and have a great time in Fort Greene Park with F.O.K.U.S.

This Saturday: F.O.K.U.S. presents ‘The Stoop 09′.

I’ve highlighted one of F.O.K.U.S.’ events before, so when I got word on their event coming up this Saturday, I had to help get the word out. Check out info on “The Stoop 09″ below…

F.O.K.U.S. presents The Stoop 09 hosted by PattyDukes and Rephstar of Circa ’95 and DJing by DJ Synapse on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 1:00PM in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn, NY, – a FREE arts celebration featuring bands, vocalists and artists from a range of genres. This annual community gathering brings together talented artists, community organizations, and the people of NYC in a space that serves as a physical crossroads between individuals and their unique artistic expressions.

With a headline performance from the highly energetic, live remix band Keys N Krates, and supporting sets from emerging talents such as Belikos, Caleb Curtis, Gist aka The Essence, The Kid Daytona, Fascious and The Approaching Storm (a youth marching band) this year’s event promises to be a fantastic and unique addition to NY’s roster of summer events.

Organizations like The Orange Giraffe, New York Chess & Game Shop, Bowery Arts and Science and Yelp! will host information tables at the event, and Photo by TONE will be on taking pictures of the event and attendees.

The Stoop 09 will also feature giveaways (including food and drink) from our sponsors Independence Community Foundation, NY Kings, IZZE, The Fader, Robert’s American Gourmet , Yelp!, Staple Design, Boylan Bottling Co. and Fresh Industries.

The Stoop is a vital opportunity to see various genres of music, art and community in one setting. Many great people and opportunities are present throughout our communities, but without awareness we do not learn about them and leverage such relations for the betterment of our communities and our youth.
