Reebok ‘Jean-Michel Basquiat’ Pack Fall/Winter 2010 Collection.

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

More Basquiat, more Reebok, more heat. CHeck out the details below…

Last March we showed you an interesting collaboration between Reebok’s rejuvenated lifestyle persona and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s contemporary art. The Reebok x Basquiat Spring/Summer 2010 Collection primarily featured white leather uppers and gum soles, fitting with the light-weather seasons. The upcoming Fall 2010 Collection not only uses darker colors, but adds five more shoes to the roster. The Omni Pump Court Victory Pump, Top Down, Ventilator, Running Dual, and Phase II, and two new designs in the Ree Down and City Jam round out the entire collection with each model housing the soul of a different work of art. Also available will be accompanying apparel – we’re talking jackets and graphic tees. Check out the collection and expect these at select Reebok retailers in the future.

Jean-Michel Basquiat x Reebok - Spring/Summer 2010.

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

More heat from Reebok’s upcoming Basquiat inspired line, this time with a few tees to match their kicks. Check out a few more images below…

Building upon the success of previous seasons, athletic gear giant Reebok partnered once again with the estate of street artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in designing the Spring/Summer 2010 series of the Jean-Michel Basquiat Pack. Taken inspiration from Basquiat’s Untitled (Suite of Fourteen Drawings) from 1981, a year before the young artist found himself in the middle of the New York art scene, the limited collection will include several Reebok staples – Omni Pump Lite, BB4600 Hi, and WMNS Pump Aerobic Lite Trainer Mid. A matching graphic tee will go along with each sneaker. The collection is scheduled to launch later this month at a number of Reebok retailers.

NikeBasketball For Haiti: “Hold on tight, don’t let go”.

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Nike has joined the outpouring of support after Haiti’s earthquake with a tee shirt designed by Haitian-American students in Florida. Check out the details below…

Over a month has passed since the devastating earthquake the shook the small island of Haiti and captivated the entire world. Many countries were quick to lend hands, but in dire situations like these, emotional support is also welcome. Nike Basketball took a trip to Forest Park Elementary School in Southern Florida, a school with a 60% Haitian population, to create a piece of artwork meant sent a message of hope, love and empathy to the Haitian people. The tag line reads ‘Kinbe Pa Lage’, which translates to ‘Hold on tight, don’t let go’. The artwork was placed on a Nike Basketball t-shirt, and was placed for sale at $25 a piece at Nike retailers, with all proceeds going to Mercy Corps and Architecture for Humanity, two of Nike’s partners in the Haitian Relief Effort.

Click the images below for a few more shots of the shirt….

The shirt is available for purchase now at NikeBasketball.com.

Polo in On the Haiti Relief Act…

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Haiti Polo

Haiti has been in all the news headlines, on television and just about every website you turn to has a Haiti Relief donation link. The amount of attention is amazing. From news, to fundraisers now to clothes, Ralph Lauren just got in on it. I just got an email from Polo recently showing their relief efforts, they put the Haitian flag on their polo in conjunction with the United Way. I’m actually surprised but glad that there has been so much positive support given back to raise money and aid. I really hope that this is being done for all the right reasons and not just to jump on the band wagon.

I was reading an article that explained the psychology behind why people donate, and altruism was not the main reason. You can’t help but wonder about all the companies and organizations out there who are doing it just for good press, who knows… I guess you can’t complain too much about the motives but be happy that there is help.

More from Reebok’s Basquiat Collection.

Reebok’s steeping forward with more footwear inspired by legendary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Check out some images of upcoming pieces from their Fall/Winter release, and their inspirations, in the gallery below…

Reebok has been paying tribute one of New York’s most prominent and pivotal street-artist-turned-neo-expressionist, Jean Basquiat, with a great collection of footwear inspired by Basquiat’s work. While we had previously released information on some Jean Basquiat Reebok Top-Down that were available on colette, here is a deeper look into the collaborative Fall/Winter 2009 collection with references to Basquiat’s work. The art work adapted for this season include the Mitchell Crew, Quality Meats For The Public, Pegasus and so forth. Working on some of Reebok’s classic silhouettes such as the Top-Down, Classic and the Ex-O-Fit Hi, the Reebok collaborative sneakers are not just shoes but wearable art for your feet. Check out the kicks with their corresponding paintings and get your very own dose of Basquiat this season since his paintings are much harder to get to.

Yele Haiti tongue detail
via Freshnessmag.com

A couple of days ago I mentioned that Wyclef Jean and Timberland collaborated on a new boot line. A portion of the proceeds from the sales will go to the Yéle foundation.

For every footwear within the collaboration sold, a contribution of $2 will be going to Yéle Haiti Foundation, a grassroots movement founded by Wyclef Jean, to support reforestation in his home country Haiti. All models within the collection were designed to be eco-conscious, constructed with only recycled and organic materials. In addition, a special “Tree” t-shirts, designed by Haitian art students from the FOSAJ Art School, will be sold at Timberland retail stores worldwide and its online store. Similar to the footwear, for each tee sold, $1 will go to the Yéle Haiti Foundation to support reforestation and art programs in Haiti.

In helping raise awareness, Wyclef Jean will participate numerous in-store appearances, concerts and promotional events from now till 2010. This include Timberland‘s Earthkeepers Network “Dig It” tree planting event this weekend at Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, as well as an appearance at Philadelphia’s Sneaker Villa on November 4th, Timberland’s New York City flagship store on November 19th and Atlanta’s Underground Station on December 3rd. The Wyclef Jean x Timberland Earthkeepers - Yéle Haiti Product Collaboration will be available at Timberland retail outlets across the globe and its Internet storefront starting late November.

Timberland & Wyclef Jean Yéle Haiti Earthkeepers Collection Launch Event

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

via Freshnessmag

I can’t say how much I appreciate what Clef does for Haiti and it seems like he just goes non stop with benefit events and fundraisers. Just the other night he put on a launch event with Timberland for the Earthkeepers collection.

Timberland along with Wyclef Jean were in New York City hosted a launch event with mini concert from Wyclef. As some of you might have read, the collaboration was devised by Timberland and Wyclef Jean for Timberland Earthkeepers and benefits the Yéle Haiti Foundation. Wyclef put on an amazing performance and even attempted to rouse the small crowd into the excitement of a Brooklyn block party.

I’m just waiting for Wyclef to do a Burden Clothing Collab…

Mighty Crown x Nike Collabo.

Monday, August 31st, 2009

I might be a little late on this one, but better late than never, right? Check out details on Japanese sound crew Mighty Crown’s latest collaboration with the folks from Beaverton below…

The Nike Dynasty High is set to make a big return in 2010 as a part of the Nike Sportswear line. The shoe was originally released as a basketball shoe in 1981 and has a sort of Dunk High/Terminator feel. And while you will have to wait at least six months to get your hands on the general releases, a super-limited Mighty Crown + Nike collaboration will yield the Mighty Crown Nike Dynasty High Premium a little earlier.

The Mighty Crown Dynasty High, the third shoe created through a joint effort between Nike and the Japanese music group, sports premium materials throughout including perforated and snakeskin leather, studded ankle strap and glittery ankle padding. The Mighty Crown Nike Dynasty High is finished off with a patterned black midsole and red outsole as well as an extended tongue tag emblazoned with a Mighty Crown.

While the shoe is undeniably dope, it was unfortunately created in very limited amounts for the 15th annual Yokohama Reggae Festival. They could get a wider release around the time of the festival on September 5th, but it’s no sure thing. Stick with NB for details.
