You’re watching the latest video from acclaimed hip-hop/reggae fusion duo Nas and Damian Marley. The video was both shot and directed by LA based, Australian director NABIL. The video was created in promotion of Nas and Damian Marley’s single “Patience”, taken from their debut collaborative album “Distant Relatives”. The track itself slows a sample from another musical pair, Amadou & Mariam’s “Sabali”, resulting in a mesmerising work, detailed with dark tones that match the lyrical content.

Since the dropping of the Distant Relative‘s project we haven’t posted much on it but recently all that changed since Nas and Damian’s trip to Jamaica was documented for the Promised Land video. Check out all three of the videos here.

What we’ve got here is a small sampling of music from Africa, handpicked by Jr. Gong & Crew. As Damian Marley explained in an interview, one of the driving forces behind this collaborative record with soul brother Nas was an attempt to introduce authentic African music to a new crowd here in the States and abroad. Hopefully this compilation will further that worthy cause. Turn it up!!

Yet another released Distant Relatives track, at this point I’m wondering what I haven’t heard from the LP yet. I think they have proven that its going to be good, so hopefully the next time I am listening to the a track on the album its because it May 18th. Needless to say this is another good work from collabo.
