It’s argued that the 90′s was the best time for Hip-Hop because the music was at its purest, many of the artist were at their best, they were unrestricted by corporations and commercial demands. Well I would make the same argument for dancehall in the 90′s. That’s when it was at it’s best. The riddims were on point, the dances were very unique from each other, while today many of the dances are very similar and very two steppy – it takes away from the authenticity of it.
To support my argument Madhouse Records will release their catalog on iTunes 12/15. Dave Kelly and his brother Tony created many of those classic dancehall tracks of the 90′s like Joy Ride, Pepperseed, and Showtime to name a few. They also featured artists like Baby Cham, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Buju and Terror Fabulous. Check out the clip and let me know how you feel about it.
