Labor Day Weekend: What’s Going On….

August 29th, 2008 by omar , No Comments

Labor day weekend is here, and along with it comes a plethora of different happenings in and around NYC, culminating with the big (huge) West Indian Day Parade on Eastern Parkway this Monday.

If you’re in the area, here’s a short synopsis of some of the good thing’s going on. I tried to fit as most as I could in here, but of course, I can’t get it all. Check it all out…you might run into us at some of these….

The folks from Rare Form have a couple of dope events going on this weeked, both at a new spot in Red Hook, called Hello Brooklyn. Check out more info on their party tonight and BBQ on Sunday on the flyers below….

Also tonight there’s a dope show at The Knitting Factory, the one year anniversary show for N.E.G., The Network Edutainment Group. The show features a real nice lineup, including Burden fam Homeboy Sandman. I’ve been meaning to get him on here before and I’ll be posting more on him soon, but for now, check the flyer below….

Sunday is where things start to get crazy. First up is Irie Jamboree at Roy Wilkins park in Queens. The lineup this year is nuts, as usual with Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Sizzla, Alison Hinds and more all scheduled to perform. Doors open at 12 noon, but check the flyer below for more info…

After that is the Black August Project at BB Kings. Check the flyer below on that one…

And last but not least, there’s J’ouvert night, then the parade in the morning.

Have fun. Be safe. Stay classy, New York.
